Why IT?

This is a question that’s been asked to me since the day I chose it. The most irritating aspect is that after recession everyone you come  across no matter who the person would ask “IT?? Is it worth?? Aint the field totally down?? The IT saga is over right??”. One should clearly understand that any field shall have ups and downs. IT has no exception. Just like a “celebrity gossip” it has lot of attention unlike other fields.

When I had to choose my discipline I totally had no idea about it. Few of my classmates were also like me only. One main reason is my attitude of not getting socialized atleast for the necessary issues. Other reason is my school that never let us think beyond our books. Talk about being attentive and ask questions amidst the class you will simply be asked to sit down.

With all such issues I was totally blank about all the disciplines. What I knew was only the full forms of the courses. I had to choose IT since no other courses were left in my college J. At the most what I knew about IT was that it deals something with computers and Internet.

It took me 2 long years to realize to know what all it had and the same 2 years to realize that this is not my cup of tea. By the time the field was a bit down and everyone started worrying about me. As soon as I say that I do IT they you used to give me pitiable glance as if I am into severe illness.

Superstitious beliefs are everywhere. So is in IT. According to people only INFOSYS, HCL, TCS, CTS, POLARIS,SATYAM,WIPRO are the only companies that exist on earth. I have seen people being given a stupid look when they say they are working in any other company no matter even if they get more or less the same pay.

Also the only good Industry is Software according to most of the people. The awareness for creative industries like Designing, Art, Visual /mass media are less. So are other industries. Parents should understand this. The outcome of any industry would vary year after year. DO NOT decide a course on highest demand. DECIDE them based on the children’s liking and interest.

A jar cannot be closed with a inappropriate lid. Likewise a person should not waste all his energy on the wrong side. Choose wise!! There’s a big world in front of you. To rule or to be ruled – choice is in your hands.

Why should i speak Thamizh?

நான் ஏன் தமிழில் பேச வேண்டும்?


இன்றைய காலத்தில் தமிழகத்தில் நாகரிகம் என்பது மேற்க்கில் பழகி புளித்து போனதை பின்பற்றுவதே. நுனி நாக்கு ஆங்கிலமும்  கடித்துக் கொதறப்படும் தமிழும் அதன் சில பகுதிகளே. நான் சில சமயம் பேசும் சுத்த தமிழ் சிலருக்கு வேடிக்கை.ஆங்கிலம் என்பது நாம் உலகத்தில் உள்ள பலதரப்பட்ட மக்களை தொடர்பு கொள்ள ஒரு அடித்தளம்.மற்றபடி இரு தமிழர்கள் சந்திக்கும் போது முடிந்த வரை தமிழிலேயே பேச வேண்டும்.இதில் எவ்வித தயக்கமும் இருத்தல் கூடாது.


நியாயப்படி நாம் தமிழ் இலக்கண இலக்கியங்களை முறைப்படி கற்க வேண்டும்.நடைமுறை சாத்தியம் இதற்கு குறைவு தான். ஆனால் என்னுடைய அதிக பட்ச ஆசை அனைவரும் நாம் அன்றாட வாழ்க்கையில் பயன்படுத்தக் கூடிய பொருட்களுக்கு மட்டுமாவது நாம் உரிய தமிழ் சொற்களை கற்க வேண்டும்.


ஒரு உதாரணதிற்கு இப்படி வைத்துக் கொள்வோம்...ஒரு அயல் நாட்டவர் நம்மை சந்திக்கும் போது ஏதேனும் ஒரு பொருளை சுட்டி காட்டி அதன் தமிழாக்கத்தை கேட்டு நாம் அதன் அர்த்தம் தெரியாமல் அசடு வழிவது எவ்வளவு கேவலமாக இருக்கும். 


ஒன்றை இங்கே தெளிவுப் படுத்த விரும்புகிறேன்.. நான் இதை சொல்வதன் நோக்கம் நாமே நமது தாய்மொழியை புறக்கணித்தால் வேறு யார் அதை பேணி பாதுகாப்பார்? நாம் நமது செம்மொழியை வளர்க்க தேவை இல்லை.இருப்பதை கெடுக்காமல் பேசி பகிர்ந்து கொண்டாலே போதும். இதற்காக நாம் அன்றாட வாழ்வில் அனைவற்றையும் தமிழாக்கம் செய்தால் நம்மை விட வேடிக்கை பொருள் யாரும் இல்லை.


கற்பனை பண்ணி பாருங்களேன்.. "நான் என் கைபேசியை வீட்டிலேயே வைத்து விட்டேன்." என்று பேசுவதற்கும் நாம் இப்போது பேசுவதற்கும் வித்தியாசம் உள்ளது. பல அறிவியல் கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் ஆங்கிலத்திலேயே பெயரிட படுகின்றன. அவற்றிற்கு நாம் தமிழ் சொற்களை கண்டுபிடித்தாலும் அதனை ஆங்கிலத்திலேயே விளிப்பது தான் நியாயம். மாறாக தமிழ் மாந்தர் தங்களது படைப்புகளுக்கு தமிழில் பெயரிடலாம்.


பல மொழிகள் கற்கலாம் பேசலாம்.ஆனால் தாய்மொழியை மறத்தல் நியாயம் இல்லை.நமது மொழியும் பெருமையை நாமே உணராது இருப்பது தகுமோ?நண்பர்கள் சந்திக்கும் போது ஒரு சிறிய பயிற்சி செய்து பாருங்கள்.. நீங்கள் அன்றாடம் பயன்படுத்தும் ஆங்கில சொற்களுக்கு தமிழ் சொற்களை நீங்களே முயன்று கண்டுபிடியுங்கள். பழைய தமிழ் பாடல்களை கேட்டு அதன் அர்த்தங்களை கண்டுபிடிக்க முயலுங்கள்.


தாய்மொழியை நேசியுங்கள்!! தமிழ்மொழியை சுவாசியுங்கள்!!

ஆயிரம் இருந்தும்

தகித்த பொழுதில்
குளிர் நீராய் 
குளிர்வித்தாய்!

Which camera should i buy?

A very frequent question in the most recent times after people started knowing my interest (very little talent though) in "Photography"...

I used to feel little funny and jealous when people start of with a SLR(single lens reflex/professional) camera straight away without even knowing what it is or how it can be used. I am not against those who have enough money to afford for a DSLR or those who are like a hungry beast to learn the skill somehow.

Apart from all these selecting a camera is crucial. You need to list out certain things before zeroing in a model;

The major classification is;

1. I’m a newbie. I would like to learn photography.
2. Enough of P&S cameras. I want a DSLR camera.

What’s my utmost usage?

One should be very much aware of what they are getting a camera for. Just because you can afford lots you can’t simply dump your money in a worthy gear.On the other end I would be happy if you are drawn towards photography and start clicking with passion. Instead I see some people just getting some costly cameras as a part of their status symbol. They don’t show any interest on it, or learn about it. Soon it reaches the dust bin and the blame is on the manufacturer.

I have also seen people taking very normal pictures with high end cameras not willing even to switch between the scene modes dial. The camera’s life ends with the “Automatic” or “Programmed Auto” mode itself.

The point is simple. Get a camera that suits your needs. According to me it is not a good idea to start of the learning process with SLR camera before choosing your domain in photography. We shall discuss about this in the near future.

According to me it is a very good option to start with a Prosumer. Prosumers or SLR - like cameras are cameras that are intermediate to Compact and SLRs. They have shooting modes like S(Shutter priority),A(Aperture),M(Manual) like a SLR. This helps a lot in experimenting at the initial stage. Of course they have their own drawbacks and limitations but a fair deal for beginners.

The best part is it comes in affordable price and a decent zoom (say from 10x to 20x). The price ranges from 14k to 23k (at least in Chennai) irrespective of the brands.Point and shoot or P&S cameras are compact cameras (soap box cameras in my terms J). They come with 3x or 4x zoom with various scene modes. In terms of a novice these cameras are with pre defined settings preventing us to use what is available instead of what we want actually. This is overcome in a Prosumer.

However they come with more effective pixels, means the resolution or clarity in megapixels. At times the compact cameras itself would cost around 12k or even more. In that case we can choose a Prosumer instead.

Even though prosumers have pre defined modes the other modes shall not be convenient for everyone to handle except you.

If you want a camera simply to capture images with no complications go for a compact camera. They come with 2 types of batteries; one with alkaline and the other with rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries. The former is a bit cheaper compared to latter(2k max is the difference).

If you are interested in experimenting with the camera and if you can afford a bit more Prosumer is what you want.

What makes me answerable?

When i say i'm here to answer it doesn't mean i know lots or am a genius an all that. As a Graduate people expect you to know certain things within and beyond your subjects. But what books teach us is little and subtle whereas what life teaches is more and powerful. I hate books be it subject or novels. But as an irony I love to write stories, poems or even plays.

I always needed a place to share my thoughts in brief. Every good thought is worth sharing and every good thing is worth a try. My posts here shall not be limited to any particular genre or domain. These are questions that I ask myself and answered by me but not about me.

I am here to share my thought as a fellow human. There are so many questions bugging me in my head without proper answers. Its just like a curious kid that dumps with a hell lot of questions. The questions are more and answers are limited and at times none. This is an attempt to find such answers.

Like I said what I know could not even be a drop, but even if it’s a tiny speck that is all I know and something I could be strong about. As a matter of fact there’s none who knows everything. So there’s no point in boasting about ourselves. Learning is a never ending process. I learn my lessons even from a kid that easily forgives and poor old man who loves his life in spite of all his miserability.

Life is a beautiful pack of surprises. I would like to enjoy every bit of it. I do not regret for not knowing certain things for at times even “Ignorance is a bliss”. That is why I have named the blog as “With the little I know”. Here we go…
